Very simple and quick breakfast recipe. U can make this delicious upma in just 10 minutes and u no need of any special side dishes/chutneys, simple ketchup suits well with this upma. The recipe as follows...
Ingredients
- Vermicelli 1 cup(roasted)
- Onion 1 no.(cut in length wise)
- Green chilies 3-4 no.s (slit open)
- Tomato 1/2 (chopped finely)
- Ginger 1 tsp(finely chopped)
- Curry leaves few
- Coriander leaves few chopped.
- Salt as needed
To temper
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Oil 3tsp
- Channa dal 1tsp
- Cashew nut 4no.s(optional)
- First roast vermicelli with few drops of oil and keep aside.
- Take a wide vessel ,add about 3 cups of water,few drops of oil and sprinkle some salt.
- Make it to boil,when it starts boiling add the roasted vermicelli.
- Stir well and cook for only 3 minutes , vermicelli should turn light transparent and soft.
- After remove from the stove and drain the water using a strainer and allow to cool.
- Heat oil in a sauce pan,add the tempering ingredients fry till light brown .
- Add onions, curry leaves,ginger and green chilies, fry them well.
- when onion turns transparent add chopped tomatoes and saute till tomato get soft and cover it with lid for few seconds .
- Then add the cooked vermicelli and enough salt & stir well
- Mix all the items well and fry for a minutes and add some chopped coriander leaves.
- Now the tasty vermicelli upma was ready to serve with any chutneys or tomato ketchup.
