This is my grandma's recipe which uses raw Garlic, typical village style spicy garlic flavored chutney. Its so simple recipe and a must try recipe for garlic lovers. This chutney goes well with super soft idli and dosa or as even as a sandwich spread. Make this chutney little spicy for more taste.
Preparation Time : 5 minutes
Cooking Time : 15 minutes
Serves 3
Ingredients
- Garlic 2 pods (peeled and roughly chopped)
- Dry red chillies 4-5(to your taste)
- Tamarind 2" piece
- Tomato 1 small(optional)
- Salt to taste
- Sesame Oil 4 tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Chana +urad dal 1 tsp
- Curry leaves few
- Grind garlic, dry red chillies and tamarind ,enough salt to a smooth paste.(if you want soak the chillies and tamarind in 1/4 cup water and grind it).
- Heat oil in a wok,add all the tempering ingredients and fry lightly then pour the chutney to it.
- Cook in low medium flame, cook covered for few minutes and open the lid and cook completely till the raw smell of the garlic leaves.
- Serve this chutney as a accompaniment for idly/dosa or curd rice.
Instead of red chillies you can also add 1 tsp of chilli powder .
