Another interesting n neat way to use broccoli, adding it to Idly Upma. Idly upma are very quick ,simple n yummy breakfast with left over idlis n even perfect for kid's lunch box too. Simple upma turned out healthy n more flavorful with the addition of broccoli n peas. No need for any special side dish simple ketchup is enough. So you also try adding broccoli or any desired veg to your Idly upma and enjoy!!!
Ingredients
- Idly 4 no.s( crumbled)
- Onion 1/2 (finely chopped)
- Broccoli 3/4 cup (cut in to very small florets)
- Peas 3 tbsp(boiled)
- Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves few finely chopped
- Curry leaves 4-5 leaves
- Oil 2-3 tsp
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal 2 tsp
- Cashew nuts 5-6 no.s
- Red chillies 2 no.s(broken)
- Crumbled the idly and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan,add the tempering ingredients and fry lightly.
- Then add onions,curry leaves and saute till onion turns translucent.
- Add the broccoli florets,peas and stir for 2-3 minutes (if necessary cook covered for a minute).
- Then add the turmeric powder and stir well and now add the crumbled idly ,little salt and mix everything well and fry vegs with crumbled idly for 2-3minutes.
- Lastly add some finely chopped cilantro and remove from the stove.
- Its done...Broccoli Idly upma is ready now .
