Hooray....today sharing my 200th recipe...its really unbelievable since my blog is 145 days old. I started writing my first blog in 2009 which was completely about my life & my family but later b'coz of many reason I stopped and in recently Jan 2011 started a Food Blog, which was my long time wish, within few weeks I got followers and friends who really like my recipes & my blog. Thanks to my supportive n encouraging friends, family n You all my Fellow Bloggers. I should thank You all my blogger friends, Subscribers and all my visitors.Thank you so much, do keep supporting and visit my space & share your thoughts. I also thank V(My husband) n my adorable kids for their help n encouragement...they never get bored or tired to taste my new recipes. Now Coming to this Gulab Jamun- for the first time I tried Gulab Jamuns from the scratch...Yes this is my first try and it was very successful and we all enjoyed it a lot. Home made jamuns are fresh,t asty n so good than the Instant Mix. Gulab Jamuns are our family's favorite sweet
Actually I wanted to try nut stuffed jamuns n also have some sliced almonds(blanched) with coconut mix ready but because of my kids, changed my plan and ended with usual Plain Gulab Jamuns...For recipe I searched online, most of the recipes are with carnation milk powder but I don't have that in hand, so tried with milk mawa powder and it turned out so yummy and perfect.
Ingredients
- Milk Mawa Powder 1 cup
- All Purpose flour 1/2 cup
- Baking soda 1/2 tsp
- Unsalted Butter 2 tbsp(melted or room temp)
- Milk to make dough
- Oil for deep frying
- Sugar 2 cups
- Water 2 cups
- Cardamom 3-4 pods(crushed)
- In a mixing bowl add milk powder,APF,baking soda mix well and add melted butter, crumble the flour and using milk make a smooth dough...knead the dough for 2-3 minutes and then cover n rest the dough for 20-30 minutes.
- Meanwhile prepare the sugar syrup...in a vessel add sugar n water stir well...allow it to boil and add the crushed cardamoms n cook for few minutes, then turn off the stove.
- Now divide the resting dough to desired shape n size.
- Heat oil in a wok for deep frying, when it gets hot gently drop the balls in to the hot oil ,fry in medium heat and keep rotating or shaking the balls (for even frying ) until turn brown on all the sides.
- Once it get fried, remove from the oil and drain it in paper towel and then drop the fried jamuns in the warm sugar syrup and allow to soak in the sugar syrup for 2-3 hrs.
- Then enjoy the delicious Gulab Jamuns warm or chilled.
