Simply i tried vada/vadai with dried green peas and little chana dal. the flavor was bit different but the taste and crispness was similar to Masal Vadai/Dal Vada.Grinding part bit difficult to me, if u have processor or Indian mixie it works easy for you. I used more cabbage n less onion to this vada and was totally different and yummy. I made this for our tea time snack and enjoyed this chill evening with hot n spicy vada n coffee. Do try this enjoy. The recipe as follows,
Ingredients
Method
Ingredients
- Dried Green Peas 1 cup
- Chana dal 1/4 cup
- Fennel seeds 1 tsp
- Green chilli 4-5 no.s
- Cilantro 5-6 sprigs
- Cabbage 1/2 cup(shredded)
- Onion 1/2 medium(finely chopped)
- Ginger 2" peice(finely chopped)
- Salt to taste
- Oil to deep fry
- Soak dried peas for at least 6 hours or overnight and chana dal for 1-2 hours.
- Finely chop onion, cabbage, curry leaves, ginger and cilantro and keep ready.
- After that, drain water completely and grind both chana dal, soaked green peas along with green chilli, fennel seeds and salt to a coarse paste and keep aside.
- Now transfer the ground peas-chana paste to a bowl and add finely chopped onion.cabbage, ginger, cilantro, curry leaves and few fennel seeds and combine well.
- Heat oil in a kadai to deep fry the vadas, When oil get heated take a small lemon size or small ball size shaped and keep it in ur palm and press gently by using your other palm
- Now put it gently in the hot oil and deep fry it till becomes golden brown on both the sides.Do repeat the same for 4-5 vadas per batch.
- Thats it,Spicy and Crispy Green peas Cabbage vada is ready. Serve Hot n Enjoy with a cup of hot coffee or tea.
