When it comes to breakfast I always prefer simple upma either with rava or poha. I would like to eat poha upma with some variations like Broccoli Lemon Poha,Spinach Poha,Tomato poha and so on. This time i made simple poha upma with left over Cranberry Pickle. This was fantastic and refreshing breakfast. No need for any side dishes like chutney/sambar. Poha sauted with Cranberry pickle along with some onions, ginger n cilantro itself was so filling and yummy. The recipe as follows..
- Poha/Flattened Rice 3/4 cup ( i used thick poha)
- Onion 1 medium(finely chopped)
- Green chilies 2 no.s (chopped)
- Ginger 1 tsp(finely chopped)
- Cilantro 2 tsp(finely chopped)
- Cranberry Pickle 2 tbsp or more or to taste.
- Turmeric powder a generous pinch
- Salt a pinch or to taste
- Oil 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal 1 tsp
- Chana dal 1 tsp
- Peanut/Cashew nut 1 tbsp (optional)
Method
- Wash Poha ,drain the water completely and keep ready.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, chana dal n urad dal fry till the dal turns light golden color.
- Then add onions and gree chilies and saute for 1-2 minutes.
- After that add poha and turmeric powder and stir well and saute for a minute and add 1-2 tbsp of cranberry pickle and stir fry unitl it combines well with poha.
- Lastly add ginger n cilantro and mix well and turn off the stove.
- That's it...Tangy and Tasty Spiced Cranberry Poha is ready to relish.
Notes:
Instead of Cranberry pickle you can also use, Mango pickle,Gongura Pickle,Tomato pickle etc.
Don't add more salt, since your pickle itself has enough salt.
Add ginger at the end along with cilantro, this will gives you fresh flavor n crunchy taste of ginger was so soothing along with the tangy pickled poha.
Wow super o super, Mouthwatering here, wat a terrific and super tempting poha.
