Thakkali Pattani Thokku / Tomato Peas Curry

This is another recipe of my Mom, one of my favorite too, love it with hot rice n papad/Potato Fry. Very spicy and tangy curry cooked with peas. Garlic,Mint and whole garam masala gives you lots of flavor. We make this curry with dried peas, I used some left over soaked peas which i used after making Green Peas Cabbage Vada. The peas were sprouted and this curry turned out to be more nutritious and delicious. You can also try this with frozen/fresh peas. Plz Adjust the spice level according to your taste, mine was HOT...HOT...Now to the recipe..

Ingredients
  1. Onion   1 large (finely chopped)
  2. Tomato   2 large (chopped)
  3. Peas    1/4 cup (fresh/dried-soaked n cooked)
  4. Curry leaves    1 sprig
  5. Turmeric powder    1/8 tsp
  6. Chili powder   2 tsp
  7. Curry masala powder    1/2 tsp
  8. Salt     to taste
  9. Cilantro    2 tbsp(finely chopped)
  10. Mint leaves   1 tsp(chopped)

  4. Clove    2-3 no.s

  • And add tomatoes and saute till it turns mushy and tender.
  • Now add peas and turmeric powder and stir fry for 1 minute.
  • And then add red chili powder and fry for 1-2 minutes and add 1/4 cup water, enough salt and bring it boil for 4-5minutes.
  • Then add curry masala powder and simmer for 2 minutes or until desired consistency.
  • Lastly add mint and cilatro and turn off the stove.(no pic for this step, forgot to take)
  • That's it..Hot and Tangy Tomato Peas Curry is ready to serve.
