Ingredients
- Tuvar dal 1 fistfull
- Tomato 1 large
- Lemon 1 medium or 1/2 large
- Green chilli 3-4 no.s
- Curry leaves 1-2 sprig
- Cilantro 6-7 stems
- Turmeric powder a pinch
- Rasam powder 1 and 1/2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Hing 1/4 tsp
- Oil 1-2 tsp
- In apressure, add dal pinch of turmeric powder, 2 cups of water n few drops of castor oil(optional) and pressure cook it for 2-3 whistles.
- Once done, wait till pressure cools down and mash gently and keep ready.
- Chop tomatoes and mash uisng hands and keep ready. Squeeze lemon and add 1tbsp of water mix it and keep ready.
- Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds and wait till it pop and then add hing, curry leaves n crushed green chilli and fry well.
- Then add dal with its water, mashed tomato and give a stir.
- Add rasam powder,enough salt and 1/4 cup water and cook covered in medium heat until it starts frothy n boil.
- Now add squeezed lemon juice and some cilantro leaves and turn off the stove.
- Let it sit in the stove for few more minutes , so that the flavors gets completely blend.
- That's it...Tangy n Yummy Lemon Rasam ready.

Love the color of your rasam. I make this regularly but never added chillies to it.
