Today's recipe is simple chutney, Moongdal onions chutney. This is also one of my Mom's recipe. This chutney goes well with Idly/Dosa/Adai/Pongal n with all tiffin varieties. This moongdal chutney is very flavorful and tasty chutney. I love it with Idly but this i made with Adai. Instead of giving plain onion tomato chutney to your kids you can give this healthy and yummy chutney. Try this and let me know how it turns out to you. Now to the recipe..
Ingredients
Heat oil in a pan,add moongdal and chana dal fry lightly.
Then add ginger and red chilli saute it and add roughly chopped pearl onions.
Saute it for 1-2 minutes.
After that add chopped tomato and saute till it turns tender but not mushy.
Lastly add cilantro and coconut, combine well and turn off the stove.
Allow this to cool completely and grind it to a fine coarse paste using very little water n enough salt.
Then Heat oil in a tempering pan, add the tempering ingredients one by one n wait till it splutter n turn off the stove.
Now transfer this chutney to serving bowl and add the tempering.
