For this month's HBC's challenge Divya picked pizza and she given us four dufferent pizza recipes with different sauces. I took the pizza base recipe and for topping this time tried Indianised Pizza with homemade Tandoori sauce & Tandoori Aloo Gobi toppings. Aloo Gobi Pizza came out so well and the crust was so perfect this time compared to my first attempt with wheat crust veggie pizza. My H n kids loved it and thanks a ton Divya for giving us nice challenge with perfect recipes. Loved baking it n hope to bake more yummy recipes with my HBC group members...Now to the recipe..
Pizza base-Recipe Source : Martha Stewart
Yield 2 round 12" pizzas
Ingredients
- All Purpose Flour 3 1/4 cups + lil' more for dusting
- Instant Yeast 1 package or 1/4oz or 2and 1/2 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Sugar 1/4 tsp
- Warm Water 1 cup
- Olive oil 3 and 1/2 tbsp + more for bowl.
- Tandoori sauce 1-2 tbsp(click on the link for the recipe)
- Pizza Sauce 1 tsp
- Veggies 1/2 cup (onions, tomato, bell pepper - thinly sliced)
- Tandoori Aloo & Gobi 1 cup
- Mozzarella Cheese 3/4 cup (grated) or more.
- In a large mixing bowl, add flour, salt, instant yeast, sugar combine well and using warm water, and 1 tbsp oil make a dought and knead using another 2 and 1/2 tbsp oil for 6-7 minutes or until the dough is soft and elastic.
- Then Brush the inside of a medium bowl with olive oil, and place the dough in the bowl, smooth side up. Cover tightly with plastic wrap, and place in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 40 minutes. Remove plastic wrap, and press your fist into the center of the dough to punch it down. Fold the dough back onto itself four or five times. Turn dough over, folded-side down, cover with plastic wrap, and return to the warm spot to rise again until the dough has doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile prepare the Tandoori sauce and tandoori aloo Gobi.
Ingredients
- Aloo/Potato 1 medium(thinly sliced)
- Gobi/Cauliflower 25-30 smallt florets
- Tandoori sauce 3 tbsp
- Chilli powder 1/4 tsp
- Pepper powder to taste
- Oil 1 tbsp
- Wash, peel the potato skin and thinly slice and keep aside.
- Bring 2 cups of water to boil, once it starts boiling add caulfilower florets then switch off the stove. wait for 2 minutes then drain the water completely and wash it in cold water and drain and wipe the excess moisture using cloth/paper towel.
- Now in a mixing bowl, add cauliflower florets, sliced potato, tandoori sauce, oil, chilli powder, pepper powder and little salt toss everything well.
- Preheat oven to 300 degree Fahrenheit.
- Now arrange the aloo gobi on a lined & greased baking sheet and bake the potato and cauliflower for 20-25 minutes or until turn crisp n cooked.
- Once done remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Preheat oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit.
- Once the dough has risen,Punch down the dough and transfer to a clean surface. Using a bench scraper or a sharp knife, divide the dough in half, and knead each half four or five turns into a ball. Place one of the dough balls back in the oiled bowl, and cover with plastic wrap. Lightly flour a clean surface, place the remaining dough ball on top, pat into a flattened circle, cover lightly with plastic wrap, and let rest 5 minutes. Roll it to 12" using a rolling pin.
- Using your fingers, begin to flatten and push the dough evenly out from the center until it measures about 7 to 8 inches in diameter. Do not press the dough all the way to the edges. Leave a slightly raised border, about a half-inch wide, around entire circumference of pizza dough.
- This gives you thick edges, once done place the dough into the baking pan, Prick the dough with a fork.
- Now spread tomato sauce, then add tandoori aloo gobi, diced onions, sliced bell pepper and lastly sprinkle shredded cheese all around, lightly brush the edges with olive oil/milk (optional) and bake it for 15- 20 minutes or until bottom turns light golden brown and cheese melted.
- Once done remove from the oven, using a pizza wheel slice them in to pieces and serve immediately.
- Repeat the same with the second pizza dough.
