Besan Ladoo is one of the Popular North Indian Sweet that can be made easily, instanly without much effort. The Traditional Besan Ladoo is loaded with ghee, so rich and delicious sweet. But this Besan Ladoo recipe uses less ghee and I got this recipe from my neighbor Aunt. She actually suggested to make Besan ladoo with Sashini/Sugar syrup. Auntie told that she prepares Besan Ladoo with sashini/sugar syrup. But i was not confident with the sugar syrup method so I used powdered sugar instead.
To Make it more tastier and rich, I used Milk Mawa Powder but it is optional. This Besan Ladoo is so easy to make no soaking, no worries about syrup consistency and it can be made instantly with store bought Besan Flour. So try this Besan Ladoo for this Diwali and impress you family and friends. Now off to the recipe...

Besan Ladoo RecipePrep Time : 5 minutes | Cook Time : 20-25 minutesRecipe Category : Sweets | Recipe Cuisine : IndianMakes 12 small Ladoos
Ingredients
Method
- Besan Flour 1 cup
- Mawa Powder or Milk Powder 1/4 cup
- Powdered Sugar 3/4 - 1 cup
- Ghee 2 - 4 tbsp( i used 2 tbsp ghee + 2 tbsp oil)
- Cardamom Powder 1/4 tsp
- Cashew nuts or Almonds 2-3 tbsp(finely chopped)
- Warm Milk 3-4 tbsp
- Heat ghee in a pan, once it is hot turn the heat to low-medium and add besan flour and stir well.
- Roast besan in low to medium heat till the nutty aroma comes and besan turns light golden brown.
- After roasting for 15-17 minutes add mawa powder and keep stirring and roast for another 5-7 minutes.
- Now the besan and mawa mixture turns non-sticky and fragrance comes, add cardamom powder, sliced almonds or finely chopped nuts.
- Stir well and remove from the stove and leave it for 1-2 minutes.
Notes:
- After it is cooled for a while, add the powdered sugar and 1-2 tbsp milk and stir well.
- And then make small or medium sized besan ladoos from the mixture.
- Serve besan ladoos immediately or store them in an airtight container.
Adding milk lessen the shelf life of the ladoos, but it gives nice aroma and rich taste.
For this recipe you can add 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup ghee and avoid milk and mawa powder.
In the last step, instead of milk you can also add couple of tbsp of ghee and shape the ladoos.
