This time for a change, tried this dry curry recipe for lunch along with Rasam. This dry curry makes an excellent side dish with rice and rasam or curd. I did not add tomatoes but you can also add 1 chopped tomatoes and make it like thokku.
Jackfruit Seed Dry Curry RecipePrep Time : 20-25 minutes(including pressure cook time)Cook Time : 10 minutesServes 2-3Ingredients
Method
- Boiled Jackfruit seed 1 cup
- Onion 1no.(chopped)
- Ginger 1" piece(crushed)
- Garlic 2 cloves (crushed)
- Curry leaves few
- Chilli powder 1/2-1 tsp( I used Kuzhambu Milagai Thool)
- Curry Masala Powder 1/4 tsp(optional)
- Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
- Salt as needed
- Oil 3-4 tsp
- Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
- Fennel seeds 1/4 tsp
- Urad dal/White lentil 1 tsp
- Boil or pressure cook the seeds with enough water and once done cut each seed into two halves or as desired and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds wait till it pop and add fennel seeds let it sizzle, then add channa dal & urad dal fry till golden brown.
- Add chopped onions,curry leaves,crushed ginger-garlic and fry them well.
- Saute till onion gets transparent.
- Then add chilli powder n turmeric powder, curry masala powder and keep frying for few minutes.
- After that add the chopped jackfruit seeds stir well, sprinkle little salt and cook covered for 2 minutes, so that the spice powders get nicely coated on potatoes well.
- Lastly add some chopped coriander leaves stir well and turn off the stove.
- Jackfruit Seed Dry Curry now ready. Serve Hot with Plain Rice and Rasam or with Curd rice, Sambar Sadham.

ReplyDeleteI cooked in a sauce pan until soft and tender. In pressure cooker, 1 or 2 whistles would be fine I guess.
